This four-sided brazier widens slightly towards the top, and the Rikyu tea ceremony text is finely carved on all four sides. The lid of the box it came in is inscribed with the words “Antique Kikimoku-made white clay calligraphy Hoku-en tea garden Shikata brazier” and the colophon “In the spring of the 5th year of the Bun’in era, I saw this at the Suichikudou tea house in Naniwa. It is a masterpiece of Komei Shiraniro Ryo, with the inscription “The hero of the lecture hall, who was once promised to a certain person in Tokyo, is now longing for it and talking about it incessantly.
The mark ‘Komei’ is stamped in the center of the bottom.
