This is a thick, deep-sided, bowl-shaped water jar. The foot of the jar is flared out, and the tatami mat is exposed. The body is white and finely textured, and there are eleven snowflakes of different shapes painted in dark underglaze blue on the outside. Inside the foot ring is the blue-and-white inscription “Dai Nihon Heian Eiraku Hozon Zou”, and on the underside of the glaze is the seal “Kawahin Shiryū”. The box is not a matching box, and on the underside of the lid is the inscription “Matayoshi-Sonshi Gokō”.
