Bowls with an inner rim were fired in Sue ware kilns in various regions during the 8th and 9th centuries. It is made of yellowish-white clay containing feldspar grains, and was wheel-thrown on a water wheel to adjust the surface of the bowl. Firing is rather weak, and the texture is similar to that of earthenware.
This bowl is an example of this type of bowl in the Tohoku region.
