This bowl has a slightly curved rim and a sturdy body, but the foot is somewhat small. However, it is not actually that small; it just appears so because the body is tall.
The glaze is a pale persimmon color in some areas and a strong grayish blue in others, which blend together in a way that resembles the shoulders and sides of the bowl, creating a highly varied and beautiful pattern.
In solid-bodied tea bowls, the glaze typically does not extend to the foot, but this bowl is an exception, with glaze covering nearly the entire surface from the folded edge to the interior of the foot. The foot is robustly shaped like a bamboo joint as expected, and the interior of the foot features a smooth surface from which creases radiate outward, with the glaze curling inward to form what is known as a “mushroom-shaped foot.” The carving from the foot to the waist is rough, and the glaze, affected by the twisted clay, exhibits a unique, crinkled texture, further enhancing the charm of this tea bowl.
