The exterior is powder-coated, and the interior is Mishima-style, bearing the Ryogoku mark. This is a variation of Mishima-style, also known as “powder-coated Mishima,” and is particularly famous for its rarity. The dark brown base is believed to be from the same kiln as the powder-coated Mishima. Both the interior and exterior feature uneven rain-like patterns resembling clouds, adding to its scenic beauty. The interior has a wide tea pool, with six irregularly sized cracks from firing, creating an exquisite focal point.
Not only is this a rare masterpiece, but it also showcases the subtle variations in both the interior and exterior, making it a tea bowl rich in tea ceremony aesthetics. The name evokes the snowy landscape of Edo’s Ryogoku district, adding depth to its charm.
