The name “Wakayama” was given by Jushin-sai, who discovered this tea bowl at the Suganuma family residence in Wakayama.
It is thinly made with a slightly flared rim and a mountain-like shape. The body has visible brush marks, but the overall design is subdued and rich in elegance.
The foot is triangular, and the inside is hollowed out and stamped with a raku mark. The base is red clay, and the sandy glaze has a reddish hue unique to Nonkou, with a slight unevenness that adds to its charm.
