　This pottery is thought to have been made in the first half of the 9th century, judging from the thick, upright neck, the shape of the body, and the tension of the base. It was fired in a slightly oxidized state, producing the brown fire color characteristic of the Sanage kiln. A thin yellowish-green ash glaze is applied from the neck of the mouth to the shoulder, but it is not clear whether this is an artificial glaze or not. It is extremely difficult to distinguish between artificial and non-artificial glazes, as both were fired at the same time during this period.
