14th century
Height 9.8 cm, mouth diameter 10.2 cm, body diameter 23.1 cm, bottom diameter 15.1 cm
This vase belongs to the so-called “vase type,” but it has a large oral portion and is of a different shape. The clay is white with many fine iron particles, and it was formed by rolling up clay strings. The mouth has a large trumpet-shaped opening. The ash sleeve is thinly applied over the entire surface, and a whitened cobalt-colored glaze runs over it. Based on the clay flavor of this vase, it is thought that it was fired in a Tono kiln.
