13th century
Height 22.9 cm, mouth diameter 8.1 cm, body diameter 16.2 cm, bottom diameter 13.2 cm
After the middle of the Kamakura period (1185-1333), water bottles became thicker at the neck of the mouth, less taller at the body, and larger and stouter at the bottom. The green band around the rim of the mouth also disappears, and the vessel becomes large and outwardly contorted. The white clay used for this vessel was fired at a high firing temperature, and the bright green natural glaze applied from the neck of the mouth to the shoulders shows the wild beauty typical of Tokoname.
