This jar belongs to a category of jars with a large body diameter. It is a rare example with a Tomoe design stamped on the shoulder, although it is heavily cracked. Judging from the tension of the shoulder and the shape of the neck, it is thought to have been made in the middle of the Kamakura period. The clay is coarse and iron-bearing, and the surface is darkened by carbon absorption.
