This is a type of small jar with a narrow neck, or perhaps it should be placed in a jar. Its origin is unknown. The overhanging shoulders and the body shape, which is similar to that of an arithmetic bowl, suggest that it was made in the middle of the Kamakura period (1185-1333). It is well fired to a brownish-brown color with dark green natural glaze on the shoulders.
