This is a typical Muromachi style large jar with a nearly spherical body and a small mouth and neck. The bottom is small and unstable. The clay is dense and iron-rich, with a brownish-brown color. The natural glaze is largely applied from the neck of the mouth to half of the body, but the variegated white straw ash glaze flows down to the lower half of the body, making this a very impressive piece of art.
