This is one of the old style medium-sized jars from Tokoname. The joint between the neck of the mouth and the shoulder is sharp, but the opening of the mouth rim is slightly smaller and the edge of the mouth rim is thicker, showing a new trend. The base is made of dense reddish-brown clay, and the body is joined in five steps by a corded clay roll-up molding.
