　One of the specialties of the Atsumi kiln was sutra-cylinder outer vessels. Its main supplier was the Ise-Kumano region. There are a considerable number of pieces with known provenance, including a sutra mound at Asakuma-yama in Ise City. Although the provenance of this vessel is unknown, it is probably one of the above. The body has lost its bulge and is completely cylindrical, and the side rim of the lid is at right angles to the top, making it of a slightly newer type.
