Idowaki (Ido side)

marusankakusikaku

A type of well bowl. Made in Korea. Idowaki is said to be the side of Aoi Ido, i.e., it is more crude than Aoi Ido. In the “Chawaniki Meri-kensho”, it is said, “Gowari is called Idowaki”, and in the “Meimono Meri-kensho”, “Idowaki is something similar to a well, but not as good as a husband, but it has a lot of eye-like features, and it has a more romantic feeling. According to “Koryo Chawan to Seto no Chajiri” (Koryo Tea Bowls and Seto Tea Containers), “The glaze has a yellowish blue hue with a hint of a rat color and is hard and smooth, but there are medium-sized Isuzu, and some are too smooth and have no Isuzu. The “Taisho Meikikan” lists two bowls, one from the former collection of the Marquis Mori, which Rakuzen received, and the other from the Yabunai family.
