Imaizumi Imaemon is a potter from Hizen Arita. It is one of the sixteen red-painted porcelain shops that began in the Kanbun period (1661-73), and has specialized in red-painting for generations, currently in its twelfth generation. Imaemon V (Kakuzaemon) was the first to be ordered by Nabeshima to make nishiki-e (brocade). When Imaemon X (Toda) abolished the official kiln, he built a porcelain kiln, but it failed. He is also said to have contributed to this industry by attaching a translucent overglaze overglaze enamelware kiln in Arita to the upper part of the kiln. (by Imaizumi Yu)
