A type of kiln tool. A term used in Seto kilns to refer to the lid of an engoro (saggars). It may mean “spore lid,” but it is also used to refer to a picture lid. It is usually circular in shape, but is sometimes square, rhombic, or oval. Around the end of the Edo period, the shelf stacking method came to be used for round kilns, and the shelving boards used for this method were also called ebuta. The shelves used in round kilns are usually 48 cm long, 38 cm wide, and 4 cm thick.
