Osaka Katatsuki

A specialty. This tea caddy was made in the Han style. The origin of the name is not clear, but it is believed to have been discovered by Furuta Oribe, the original owner, in Osaka. This tea caddy is rich in scenery, with many spatula-like patterns and a high earthy appearance around the hem. It was handed down from Oribe to Tokugawa Yorinobu, the founder of the Kishu domain, and later to his second son, Sakyo-tayu Yorizumi. (Nanryu Kotogiroku, Taisho Meikikan)
