A Chukoh specialty. A tea caddy in a later kiln, favored by Oribe of Narumi Kiln. The accompanying note says, “Enshu named this tea caddy Gakibara because it resembles a hungry demon belly. This tea caddy was fired at the Narumi kiln according to the taste of Oribe Furuta.
In December 1774, the Matsudaira family gave it back to the Marquis of Kaga, and it has been in the family ever since. (It has been in the Kaga family ever since.)
