Gabri
Gabri

Persian pottery produced mainly in Kurdistan Gallus in northwestern Iran from around the 11th century.
The center of the bowl is decorated with a large representation of a lion or a monstrous bird. The design was created by overlapping two different colored glazes and scraping off the upper layer of glaze, so-called “scraping off”. It is believed to have been created under Chinese influence. Gabri means Zoroastrian in Persian and refers to Zoroastrian pottery, but it is a misuse of the word and has nothing to do with Galus.
