16th century
Height 50.3 cm, mouth diameter 13.5 cm, body diameter 44.2 cm, bottom diameter 17.7 cm
This is a typical large jar of the long-bodied type. The neck of the mouth is small in relation to the body, and it stands upright with a slight outward opening. The body has rounded shoulders and the lower half is straight toward the bottom. The shape of the body and the mouth rim suggest that it was made in the late Muromachi period (1336-1573). The ware is in excellent condition, with a light brown smooth surface and a yellowish green natural glaze from the mouth neck to the center of the body. There are two kiln marks on each of the two shoulders.
