Citta
Citta

A stand used for finishing the shaping of a potter’s wheel. It may mean a wet stand. Since shaving is done with the water-ground work face down, if it is placed directly on the potter’s wheel, the edge of the mouth of the work may be damaged. Therefore, a small cylinder made of clay is placed on the potter’s wheel, and the water-ground material is placed on it. This small cylinder is called a citta. Sometimes a half-dried citta is used, which is called a “raw citta.
