A ronin from Karatsu, Hizen Province (Saga Prefecture). When he came to Seianji Temple in Kusiri, Izumi-mura, Toki-gun, Mino Province (Kusiri, Izumi-machi, Toki-shi, Gifu Prefecture), he saw the pottery kiln of Kato Shiroemon Kage-nen, a local potter, and discussed his techniques, noting his gains and losses, and finally accompanied Kage-nen to inspect the pottery industry in Karatsu. Kage-nen presented a white-glazed tea bowl to Emperor Shojincho, and was finally appointed governor of Chikugo on July 5, 1597 (Seianji Documents).
