At first glance, this jar could easily be mistaken for a Tokoname jar. However, the N-shaped rim of the mouth does not hang down as widely as in Tokoname ware at this time. The surface of the potter’s clay was adjusted with a brush. The natural glaze on the shoulder is left to dry, giving the vessel a white color. This is one of the few examples of jars from the early Muromachi period. The tar-like small black spots on the entire surface are adherents of a later period.
