16th century
Height 27.7 cm, mouth diameter 11.3 cm, body diameter 26.0 cm, bottom diameter 16.4 cm
The short, upright neck of this vase is bent at the top to form a ball-shaped rim, which is rare in Echizen vessels. The rounded body and wide base indicate that it probably dates to the end of the Muromachi period (1336-1573). It is well fired using slightly sandy clay and has a dark green natural glaze on the shoulder. There is a kiln mark on the shoulder.
