 This technique of making the mouth by folding the top of the short neck outward to form a rim band is unique to Tokoname. The use of high quality clay with a high feldspar content, the renko (a pair of beads) stamped on the shoulder, and the painted kiln marks are also not found in Tokoname. If this is the case, then we must say that this large jar is the closest to the Kaga kōtō ceramics that have only recently become known.
