It is a common belief that there is no tea ceremony ware in the Ko-Echizen period. This seemingly simple vat was made with a sticky clay mixed with rice field clay, and the rough vertical lines used for molding and the unevenness of the mouth clearly indicate that it was made with a water jar in mind. The dark green natural glaze running down the almost blackish-brown surface of the vessel is a highlight.
