This round-bottomed earthenware jar follows the shape and technique of earthenware jars, fired at a low temperature and in a tiled body. The surface of the vessel was adjusted by pulling it diagonally from left to right with a rough comb. While Echizen and Tanba ceramics were imported to the northern part of Kyoto Prefecture as hard medieval ceramics, the local people probably made this type of earthenware with a slightly harder tile texture. The various forms of daily vessels produced in the central part of the city, which did not have a medieval pottery kiln, can be seen here.
