Although no medieval pottery kilns have yet been discovered in Kitakyushu, jars like this one give the impression that there is a medieval kiln somewhere hidden away in the Sue ware tradition. The surface of this jar is shaped by the diagonal use of coarse stripes of beaten clay. The relatively large bore in relation to the diameter of the body may indicate the age of the vessel. The ware is not very hard and has a tiled body. Long jars of this type are found in various places in Kitakyushu.
