This is a sutra case, but I would like to mention it as a product of an unknown ancient kiln in the Tohoku region. The firing technique differs from other Tohoku kilns in that it is made of clay containing many fine particles of feldspar and fired with neutral or oxidizing solution. It is very well fired and has a yellowish-white natural glaze on the shoulder. The lower half of the body was scraped and the upper half was adjusted by nadir. The bottom is cut with a still thread cutter.
