14th century
Height 11.3 cm, mouth diameter 32.2 cm, bottom diameter 15.3 cm
The chronological change in Bizen mortar bowls can be clearly seen in the construction of the mouth rim. The mouth rim is thickened on both sides to create a flat rim that tilts outward in a corded clay roll-up molding. There is a geta mark on the bottom back. The inner surface is carved radially with thirteen grated lines using a comb with six teeth. The ware is poorly fired and tiled, and has a light brown color with slight fire tints. There are black spots on the outer surface.
