This is one of the four-mimi jars of the Bizen long jar series. The shiny reddish-brown ground is covered with a yellowish-green natural glaze and shows excellent workmanship. The body is less bulky and the jade rim has degenerated to a flattened shape.
It was probably made in the middle of the 15th century.
The vessel is made of rolled-up corded clay, and the surface of the vessel has been scraped and adjusted. There is a geta mark on the underside. This is one of the superior Bizen four-mimi jars.
