This flower vase is thickly and chunkily molded with a hem overhang and a hand attached to the mouth. The rim of the mouth is rounded and warped at the edges, and the bottom is flat with four marks. The body is covered with eight horizontal stripes in a random pattern, and the thick ash glaze on the front has a purple-brown color, with a grass-green beadlo glaze around the base. The back of the vase is reddish brown with diagonal black charring at the hem, making it a unique example of an Iga flower vase. There are marks on the back of the vase that indicate the endurance of the montsuke hole.
It is described as “Iga ware vase with handles” in the Manzu washo iuyo-sukashi inscription, and was handed down to the Konoike family, making it a Chuko Meibutsu (Chuko speciality).
