Iga “Shoe”-shaped bowl

Iga "Shoe"-shaped bowl

Height 8.9cm, Bowl diameter 13.7cm x 16.3cm, Stand diameter 5.3cm x 7.9cm
This is a typical Iga ware kutsuwa pot, also thought to have been made in the early Edo period. It is covered with a thick beadlo glaze from the interior to the exterior, which seems to have been applied rather than a natural glaze, and the bottom, which is reddish-brown and tightly fired, is also covered with a thin, mottled glaze. The base is low, the body is spatula-shaped, and one of the outer sides has a beaten pattern. There are quite a few nearly similar examples extant.
