This is a half cylindrical Shigaraki tea bowl with a beautiful view of the softly baked clay skin, with a thin layer of ash glaze on one side of the body and a mark carved in spatula on the side of the base. There are quite a few Shigaraki tea bowls of this type in existence, but this is one of the most excellent ones. It is probably from the early Edo period.
