This bowl is designed in the Gohanfunate style, but small bowls of this type were also made along with large Dokuraku-style bowls. The composition of the design is exactly the same as that of the large bowl. There are many bowls of this type made in the 19th century and exported to Europe during the Meiji period (1868-1912), so it is difficult to distinguish between them. However, it is possible to identify the characteristics of older ones relatively clearly by examining the excellent base material, the color of the underglaze blue, and other details. The character “Kotobuki” (meaning “longevity” in Japanese), which is bordered by a red line, is written in gold on the base of the bowl, and there are large eye marks.
