Large dish with beauty and heron design, enamelled ware

The same design is shown on the large dish with a design of a beautiful egret in overglaze enamels and on the large dish with a design of a beautiful egret in underglaze enamels, both made in the 18th century. These are copies of Japanese export porcelain made in Delft and then copied in Japan. Therefore, it is interesting to note that the birds next to the figures, the border patterns, and the birds inside the window openings are in a European rather than Japanese style. The backs of the plates all show the seven insect patterns, but the color-glazed plates show them in red, while the underglaze blue plates show them in underglaze blue. This is a unique example of Imari export porcelain.
