This water jar with an egg-shaped body and long, slender neck was fired as ash-glazed pottery at the Sanage kiln in Aichi Prefecture in the late 8th century, and is modeled after a water jar made by Sabari. It is sharply wheel-thrown and has a three-tiered molding technique, with a plate placed between the neck and the body. It is one of the typical water bottles of the late 8th century.
