This tea bowl features a style commonly seen in works bearing the “Inkyo” seal: the lower rim is slightly tapered, and the waist is strongly accentuated. The foot is small and flat, with a deep hollow carved into its interior where the “Inkyo” seal is stamped. The black glaze, which blends seamlessly into the overall form, is applied smoothly, revealing the interior and exterior of the foot, and features white-outlined marks on both sides of the body. Snake-and-scorpion glaze patterns appear where the curtain glaze breaks. The inscription “Made by Kōnyū” is carved on the side of the foot. On the inside of the lid of the box, Seinyū has written: “Made by Kōnyū, Black Tea Bowl, Inscription: Plum Blossom, Left (Seal).”
