　This is one of the long-lived vessels in the lineage of the short-necked jars in the shape of medicine jars from the Nara period (Shosoin). The body gradually lengthened from the mid-Heian period onward, and by the end of the Heian period, it lost its base and reached its maximum length. This type of ware was produced right after the transition to medieval ceramics. The various jar kilns in the Tokai region that produce jarware of this type are almost identical in shape. This short-necked jar is made of a high quality, firm clay with a light brown color that contains iron particles, indicating that it was made at the Sanage kiln. It was formed by winding up clay strings, and the surface of the vessel was shaped vertically near the bottom and horizontally at the top, and the interior surface was also carefully adjusted by me. The firing was very good, and the ash glaze on the shoulder was well fused to produce a bright green glossy glaze. This is one of the best short-necked vases of this type produced in the Tokai kilns.
