Kataonami
Kataonami

Specialty. Kokyu ware tea bowl by Ninsei. It is so named because of the elaborate pattern of Katano-no-nami (male wave) in white glaze on the outer surface of the bowl. It is said that it was inscribed by Munekazu Kanamori with the inscription “Katanoha” on the box. It is believed that Munehwa originally ordered this piece from Ninsei based on his own taste. There is a marked difference in the manner in which it is made compared to the usual Ninsei. It is in the collection of Honda Harimamori, a retainer of the Kaga domain, and was given as a souvenir to the Shinohara family by their daughter when she married into the family.)
