15th century
Height 15.6 cm, mouth diameter 6.6 cm, body diameter 13.9 cm, bottom diameter 11.7 cm
This is one of the oldest of the so-called “o-haguro” jars.
The apex of the 3.5 cm long mouth neck is folded back to form an N-shaped mouth rim. It has a slightly coarse clay color with a dark brownish hue. The large base, close to the diameter of the body, and the shape of the mouth rim date it to the middle of the 15th century. It has a painted inscription on the shoulder.
