Shigaraki suribachi (mortar and pestle) are similar in form to those of Tokoname. This suribachi has a rough, rolled-up clay surface with a markedly uneven surface. The interior has a single sunken line under the mouth rim, and 13 grating lines are made in a radial pattern with a four-fold comb. The edge of the mouth is folded back with a finger. The pottery is yellowish-white in color, with a yellowish-white kawara body.
