The top of the mouth rim has a flat rim that tilts inward, and a thick stripe of a band is placed just below the outer surface. The surface of the vessel is brushed with a brush to adjust the horizontal nadir. This type of container was not used as a tea ceremony utensil until a little later, and is probably the ancestral form of this type of container.
