As in the 9th century, the 10th century ash glaze was generally applied generously only to the interior surface. This vessel has trifid totin fused to the prospective surface, indicating that it was fired in layers. There is a circular adherent on the underside of the base, which is a trace of a ring used to support the foot. The mouth rim is slightly outwardly bowed, and the base still retains its old form, which suggests a production date in the late 9th century.
