15th century
Height 44.5 cm, mouth diameter 14.5 cm, body diameter 31.2-31.9 cm, bottom diameter 20.0-20.5 cm
This jar belongs to the Bizen long jar series. The rim of the jar is slightly degenerated and nearly flattened, and the border between the body and shoulder is inflected.
The shape of this jar, with its slightly degenerated and flattened jade rim and the inflected border between the body and shoulder, probably dates from the late 15th century. The comb pattern on the shoulder has already passed its prime and has been formalized.
The blackish-brown luster of the surface is covered with a dark green natural glaze, which is already beginning to give off the atmosphere of the late Muromachi period.
