This is a small jar with a large, chunky body and a large bottom. The rim of the jar is flattened and shows a tendency toward degeneration. It is made of sticky clay and molded with a rolled-up cord and the surface of the vessel has been adjusted by shaving. The brownish-brown body of this jar is very well fired, and the natural brownish-green glaze flows down from the shoulder to the body, giving the jar a highly varied color tone. This is one of the most valuable late Muromachi period seed pots.
