Shino tea bowl, konwn as “Tsuten”

Shino tea bowl, konwn as "Tsuten"

Height 7.9cm, mouth diameter 14.1cm, base diameter 6.5cm
Among Shino tea bowls, this tea bowl has a particularly bright reddish color. The slightly high waist has a clear ridge, and the body and mouth are bent at the edge, showing a gently curved surface from the base to the waist, and the center of the bottom has a double height with a slightly curved base, the outside of which is pressed down to form a flower shape. The thick glaze melts well, and a deep reddish color appears on the entire surface.
The body is decorated with a variety of patterns, such as tortoiseshell connections, kizukas, warabi, and ring differences, in a dark and thin pattern.
The name is thought to be a reference to the Tsutenkyo Bridge at Tofukuji Temple in Kyoto, famous for its autumnal foliage. It once belonged to the Hirase family.
