The name “Kago-hana” refers to the design of chrysanthemums on the cypress latticework. The outer three layers and inner two layers of cypress latticework feature thick, casual carvings reminiscent of nail carvings, exuding elegance. The flower shapes are found on the lower layer and the tea-colored base. The degree of burning creates a rough yet soft texture, and the feel in the hand is pleasant. This piece likely belongs to the early period of Chōshima’s work.
