Height 25.1 cm, mouth diameter 13.5 cm, bottom diameter 8.2 cm
This vase is a masterpiece of cylindrical vase with an outstanding shape and firing. The bottom of the mouth is tightened and stepped, and the body is made into a triangular shape with a gentle stroking angle. A four-tiered hinokagaki-style design is carved in spatula from the mouth to the base, and the arrow-necked mouth rim is rounded like a gutter. The left side of the body has a burnished grayish-black surface with a thin layer of sesame glaze in the color of decayed leaves from the mouth to the bottom of the body. The bottom is flat, and the kiln mark “cirula” is engraved near the mouth. On the back of the lid of the box, there is an inscription: “Kobizen flower vase, Miyashibashira, No.1, also used as a water container. The lid is made by myself, left (hanaseki)”. The lid is red Raku, probably fired in the kiln of Raku IX. The name “Miyabashira” is probably a clever inscription.
